ROLIAC project has been just launched to develop robust and light additive manufacturing components for military systems. The consortium, led by the Danish Teknologisk Institute (DTI), counts on the Spanish entities LORTEK and Aerotecnic Metallic to develop a new solution for aircraft cargo bay door hinge assembly. As a result, a weight reduction of around 40% is expected in the component while maintaining the mechanical and structural performance, providing a robust integral optimization of subassemblies.
The consortium composed of 10 entities from Denmark, Spain, Germany, The Netherlands, France and Greece, will collaborate during 3 years to foster Additive Manufacturing in the European Defence sector as a new technology to design lightweight and high performing components, use of new materials for improved mechanical performance, and contribute to robust and resilient supply chains.
This project has received funding from the European Defence Fund (EDF) under grant agreement EDF-2021-DIS-RDIS-AMD-ROLIAC
