Scope

The main objective of the project is to develop and validate an ecosystem of new digital technologies for the main processes of national shipyards in order to achieve their technological leap towards digitalization according to Industry 4.0 guidelines, positioning the national sector as a technological benchmark in the international context.

  • Research and conceptually define digital technological solutions for naval digitalization.
  • Develop disruptive digital technological solutions for the naval sector.
  • Research and develop production processes assisted by digital technologies.
  • Demonstrate and validate the concepts developed for the advanced digitalization of the naval sector.
  • Define a future action plan.

The transformation will be applied in the following areas:

  • Digitalization: use of digital technologies to enable, improve, and transform shipyard operations, as well as their functions, models, and processes.
  • Advanced manufacturing: incorporation of robotics and automation in manufacturing processes.

Solution

LORTEK's activity in the project focuses on monitoring arc welding processes, collecting data generated by them, as well as by 2D/3D vision inspection systems, automating quality control in manufacturing, and inspecting and evaluating possible defects in weld seams. With the captured information, specific models are trained for defect detection, as well as prescriptive models that determine the optimal welding parameters to avoid defect occurrence. As a result of this project, different demonstrators aimed at the naval industry are developed:

  • Monitoring and inspection systems for data capture of welding processes used in the naval industry.
  • Defect detection models based on 2D/3D inspection to detect defects.
  • Prescriptive models that determine the optimal welding parameters.
