Scope

The main objective of the project is to develop a high-speed FSW (Friction Stir Welding) process (>3m/min) that meets the quality requirements of the automotive sector, according to ISO25239 standards. The aim is to optimize FSW welding to achieve speeds of up to 4m/min, ensuring the integrity and durability of welded joints. This includes the development of specific FSW tools, the definition of critical process parameters, and the creation of precise clamping and positioning fixtures. Additionally, the project aims to significantly reduce distortions and manufacturing costs compared to other welding methods.

Solution

LORTEK focuses on the research and development of the high-speed FSW welding process, bringing its expertise in optimizing this method for applications in the automotive sector. This includes the design and refinement of FSW tools, the determination of critical process parameters, and the development of specific fixtures to ensure precise positioning and clamping of the parts to be welded. LORTEK works closely with key players in the automotive industry, contributing to the reduction of distortions and manufacturing costs, and ensuring that the process meets the quality standards set by ISO25239.
