Scope

The QUIXOTE Cervera Excellence Network aims to advance the development of quantum technologies for security and strategic environments, strengthening the scientific and technological capabilities required for their future deployment. The project focuses on generating knowledge and developing experimental infrastructures and advanced solutions in key areas such as quantum-secure communications, quantum sensing, and their applications in Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) systems.

To achieve this objective, QUIXOTE brings together the complementary capabilities of five leading technology centres, fostering multidisciplinary collaboration to accelerate research, promote the transfer of knowledge to real-world applications, and contribute to the development of strategic technologies that enhance technological sovereignty and the competitiveness of key industrial sectors.

Solution

Within the project, LORTEK is responsible for the development of a fibre-optic gyroscope operating in the quantum regime, together with the experimental infrastructure required for its validation. This test bench will enable the characterisation and evaluation of different sensors under controlled conditions.

In addition, LORTEK leads the simulation of quantum sensor networks to analyse different architectures and configurations, identifying the performance and advantages these solutions can offer for advanced navigation, monitoring and positioning applications.
