Scope

The IRATI project aims to develop new materials for applications operating under extreme conditions, improving their mechanical strength, thermal stability, oxidation resistance and long-term durability.

To achieve this, the project focuses on the design, synthesis, processing and characterisation of novel alloys, high-performance protective coatings and nanomaterials, with the goal of delivering advanced solutions for demanding industrial applications in strategic sectors.

Solution

Within the project, LORTEK leads the development of processing routes for new alloys using additive manufacturing technologies. This work includes computational materials design, manufacturing through PBF-LB, DED and FSAM technologies, and the development of post-processing strategies to optimise the properties of the materials produced.

In addition, LORTEK contributes to the advanced characterisation of these new materials by evaluating their mechanical performance at high temperatures, oxidation and corrosion resistance, and microstructural stability, supporting their validation for demanding industrial applications.
