CEFAM - Strategic programme for training excellence on Metal Additive Manufacturing
Creation of a network of excellence in AM, integrating the capabilities of four centres of the consortium. It covers the value chain of metal additive manufacturing: design, production, processing, post-processing and advanced testing. It addresses a wide range of metals with SLM, LMD, EBM and WAAM technologies. It studies the integration of Femtosecond lasers. The project excels at training and talent attraction/ the programme's forte is training and talent attraction. AIDIMME, CEIT, FADA-CATEC and LORTEK are designated "Cervera Centre of Excellence" in Additive Manufacturing and receive support from CDTI.
ALENCO - Development of SLM process for precipitation-hardening alloys for high performance aeronautical components
Development of additive manufacturing for high performance materials, replacing nickel alloys in aeronautics. Objectives include obtaining dense parts by PBF-LB, applying specific heat treatments, adapting design with DfAM concepts, ensuring quality with monitoring, and validating parts with inspections. Additive Manufacturing solves problems associated with microfusion, simplifying processes and reducing rejects caused by deformation.
HIPERION - Generation of knowledge and capabilities for new space technologies and future planetary missions
HIPERION promotes research in space technology and science to strengthen the sector weight in the Basque autonomous community. Based on high reliability and low weight standards, space research is taking the lead with applications in industry, energy, health and climate change. Solving engineering challenges while developing space technologies is promoting European competitiveness. This project tackles advanced manufacturing, materials, composites, coatings, control systems, avionics and optical path technologies.
MADISON - Additive Manufacturing, Digitalization, and Sustainability
The MADISON project, a continuation of CEFAM 2020-2022, aims to enhance participation in the additive manufacturing (AM) value chain. It addresses challenges in AM technologies applied to metals, promotes excellence in training, and attracts talent. It develops strategies for dynamization, transfer, and industrial protection to enhance results. Technically, it fabricates and simulates five materials (Ti64, Cu, Al, steels, and Ni alloys), improves AM technologies and material processability, designs non-destructive inspection methods, and analyzes the sustainability of the processes.
ROLIAC - Robust and light AM components for military systems
ROLIAC enables lightweight military-grade part design and manufacture, leveraging additive manufacturing (AM) for EU defense. Key benefits include robust supply chains, lightweight high-performance components, and use of novel materials. ROLIAC focuses on generative design, rapid production, and robust quality control, demonstrated in ground, air, and space applications
NINFA - Research into developing aerospace solutions using new assessment, design and inspection methods in additive manufacturing adapted to the entire supply chain
NINFA drives research and development to efficiently and industrialise the aerospace sector in a cost-effective way while maintaining high quality standards. From design to post-processing, in collaboration with the supply chain. In addition, it seeks to apply developments in other sectors such as the medical-dental sector. Focusing on light alloys, cost-benefit analysis, industrialisation and process and material quality, NINFA covers the entire supply chain, including research into heat and surface treatments, process monitoring, mechanical characteristics, non-destructive methods, and distortion modelling for product design.
